Engineers at LSS work with customers, specifiers and certifiers to ensure that Latrobe alloys meet the stringent aerospace and defense expectations. Other engineers oversee the samples from the electric arc furnace, the argon oxygen decarburization unit, the rolling mills in the spectroscopy and other laboratories for quality control. Yet another group of engineers are charged with continuously improving safety, process reliability, equipment performance, productivity, and yields.
The melt shops at LSS use an electric arc furnace, an argon oxygen decarburization unit , vacuum induction melting furnaces, vacuum arc remelting furnaces and electroslag remelting furnaces. Operators, melters, brick layers and electricians keep the systems moving to the unique protocols of so many different grades.
A private, entrepreneurial company, LSS operates leanly and tightly with the guidance of a chief financial officer, comptroller, several CPAs and a team of experienced accounting specialists.
Using SAP, LSS needs a strong IT team to keep this system current, in touch with remote server facilities, the sophisticated plant, and with staff throughout North America, Europe and Asia.
Within the marketing and sales department, LSS has a team of inside customer care representatives and field salespeople who set the standard for customer service and on-time delivery.
