Now a leader in aerospace metals, Latrobe Specialty Steel was the first North American company in the basic metals industries to apply electric arc melting technology.
Expertise and innovation soon made us a leader in tool and die steels. When we adopted vacuum melting technology in the 1950s, we began our long commitment to producing specialty steels for aerospace, defense and other technically demanding applications.
Between 1975 and 2006, we were a wholly owned subsidiary of the Timken Company. Today Latrobe Specialty Steel is once again a private company dedicated to quality and service.
