Steel Finishing
After forging, rolling and thermal treating, most of our products undergo a combination of finishing processes such as drawing, turning or grinding.
Our Sandycreek Service Center sets new standards for cold finishing specialty steel round bar products. Single-flow processing, bar coding and paperless manufacturing and warehousing enable us to meet your delivery demands efficiently. We stress quality at every step, with laser gauging to control dimensional accuracy and consistency, eddy current inspection to detect surface irregularities and immersion ultrasonic testing to insure structural soundness.
After annealing them in one of our controlled atmosphere continuous furnaces, we can process coils in several ways. Coil-to-coil peeling and cold drawing with inline eddy current testing are just two of the available options. Our vacuum annealing furnaces keep coils free of scale between drawings.
Our coil-to-bar line starts with annealed coil and produces high precision, tight-tolerance round bars with diameters of 0.500 inch (12.700 mm) or less.
We produce finished, machined round bars from hot worked annealed bars on single flow processing lines. Our round bar finishing facility turns out product ranging from 0.500 inch (12.700 mm) to 24 inches (609.600 mm) in diameter. Bar peelers handle sizes up to 12 inches (304.800 mm), while our lathe line produces larger bars.
